Ramon Reyes

December 3, 2016 – January 30, 2017

Art became the outlet for Ramon Antonio Reyes to pour his endless reservoir of energy into. He was born in Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela in 1978, and at 8 years old won his first drawing contest while attending the Fragachan Narciso School. At 17, he produced his first group show under the direction of acclaimed artist Ramon Morales, and a year later began his studies in Fine Art at the Experimental University for the Arts in Caracas. He answered the calling to come to the United States in early 2015, and chose the artistically and culturally diverse backdrop of New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana as home. He is learning English with a myriad of classes and has delved into his new surroundings where he continues to create art and become an active member of the arts community.

It is the last full week to see the work of @cornedbeefreuben on our walls. The public response to this show has been empowering, with women from all walks of life coming in to let us know that identify and appreciate this representation of the female form. We are living through a monumental time which we can see a shift in our patriarchal and misogynistic society. The beautiful works of Courtney Lubin use bold colors to contour and highlight women’s natural curves and provide a renewed vision of the female body. Please, join us and take time with these works. #femalegaze #womenpower #femaleform #femaleartists #feministart #womanifesto #nolaartists #contemporarypainting #artsdistrictneworleans #brandneworleansartgallery
